Bilgi Karan a UID alumni, presently working as an Industrial Designer at Sony Ericsson&s Creative Design Center in Lund, Sweden, returned to Umeå for one day and combined the stay with reviewing student portfolios and giving a lecture in the school s auditorium.
Bilgi, who originates from Turkey, did his masters studies at the MA programme Advanced Product Design between 2002 and 2004. His degree project was a mobile communication device, which was sponsored by Sony Ericsson, who subsequently asked him to join their design office.
In his lecture entitled "Designer from the orient... Designing for the world", Bilgi reflected on his educational background and the student projects he did in Turkey in combination with his MA studies in Umeå. He finished off by showing examples of products he has contributed to developing at Sony Ericsson, which included mobile telephones such as the K810i, the G700 and the W350i.
