"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works." Steve Jobs
Together with Muova research and development centre and the University of Vaasa, Umeå Institute of Design have a EU funded project, called Responsible Market Driven Design. The project’s aim is to show the industry that design can be the catalyst for development and progress at companies. Students from different educations within marketing and design are going to work together during their education to get insight in each other’s fields. The project will also connect companies in the region with students from the various programmes.
On Tuesday January 12th, three representatives from Muova and the University of Vaasa visited UID for talks about their current collaboration. In the spring term students from IDI at UID and marketing students from the University of Vaasa will participate in the course Design Management/Service Design. During the autumn term, BA students at UID are going to work together with marketing students from the University of Vaasa, in either workshops or courses.
The project is funded through Botnia-Atlantica, a program established to strengthen the collaboration between regions and countries (Sweden, Finland and Norway). In the meeting were also discussions about extending the collaboration. The cooperation will then involve both education and research.
