What if ... Exhibition at Bildmuseet, Umeå Arts Campus, May
19-June 6 2012 What if we could create a better world through
design? If we could find new ways of thinking and of using our
creativity? In the exhibition What if … we want to show how the
design process can be used to identify and solve problems in new
and creative ways. Our students have, in close collaboration with
companies and organizations, explored how design can be used to
think in new ways in different contexts.

UID Interview - Marije De Haas

Marije de Haas Is a Holland-born communications designer - BA, MA
in Communication Design, and one of the six who formed design
studio Bullet in London. Now she is Sweden based, since she and her
family moved to Floda, which is located outside Botsmark. Which is
located outside Umeå. Let´s just say it´s a very, very small
village in northern Sweden. We met her at UID and had a
chat.

On light wings from the megacities - Armand Bentzen recieves move
2030 award

UID Transportation Design student Armand Bentzen is the winner of
the international automotive design competition mo>e 2030, with
the visionary project Into the Wild, created in collaboration with
KISKA at UID last semester.

UID ranked 2 by red dot
2012-05-07
Umeå Institute of Design (UID) is ranked 2 in the prestigious red
dot design ranking for design concept 2011. This ranking recognizes
UID as one of the top universities in the Americas and Europe to
continuously and progressively produce cutting edge and forward
thinking projects.

UID master students win iF concept awards 2012
2012-04-18
From more than 10.566 valid entries submitted by design students
from all over the world, only 100 projects received an iF concept
award 2012. Two of these were awarded to Masters students at Umeå
Institute of Design (UID): Simon Fredriksson and Gosha Galitsky,
Dogan Sekercioglu, all students at the Masters programme of
Advanced Product Design (APD) and Carol Tang from UIDs Interaction
Design programme.
