Malin Grummas

Malin Grummas have always been interested in product design so after her three-year BA Industrial Design programme it was no question but to continue at the Advanced Product Design Programme. This summer she is going to Japan for a two-month internship at Toyota Boshoku.

What are you doing at Umeå Institute of Design?

I am a first-year student at APD and it is my fourth year at UID.

Is there anything you find particularly positive about UID?

The multicultural environment - the students and the teachers are from many different countries and that enhances the education, I believe. The facilities are great and the workshops give a lot of opportunities. The staff is also very competent.

Is there anything you would like to improve at UID?

I am worried about the future tuition and the effect it will have on the quality. Since the applicants will be fewer because of it, then the quality will be influenced. In APD only three of us would not have to pay the tuition...

What do you think are the reasons for the good reputation of Umeå Institute of Design?

The programmes are really good and the students from UID forward the reputation. The ranking has also improved the reputation lately.

What will you be doing in ten years?

In ten years I will hopefully work at design office as a consultant with many varied tasks for different companies.
