Biography/Background
Lorenzo is a designer with a particular interest in large-scale
systems and sustainability. He obtained his BS and MS in Industrial
Design at the Politecnico di Milano, where he developed his master
thesis within the Design Innovation for Sustainability Research
Unit. Afterwards he spent some time in the United States working at
MIT as a research assistant for the Vehicle Design Summit,
collaborating with Senseable City Lab and the Trash Track Project.
More recently he was an intern with the Mobility and Energy
Efficiency Team at the Rocky Mountain Institute in Boulder
Colorado.
He joined the Design Research Group at Umeå Institute of Design in
September 2010.
His research looks research looks at how the urban freight
distribution infrastructure and delivery services can become more
responsive by and through design to support local communities,
distributed forms of production and service oriented business
models.
