Considering Neil Leech’s vision on anesthetics (the anesthetic effect that visual supra-saturation might have on humans), an individual is living in a society of visual brutality, where things are forced to take as much space into one’s visual spectrum. The way that one involuntarily fights back is ignorance.
As designers, we share the same communication channel as the things I mentioned above. By doing so, the end result of our work has a big chance to fall in the hands of ignorance. Not because the principles are bad, or the functions are not well solved, but because in big picture, the products represent another element of visual brutality.
In this whole set, "Dräger Icarus" formulates a solution for this crises of meaning by using a simplified but yet strong message, objectified into a product family.
