Ford Evoke


„ What if Adaptive Personalization excelled Hardware Customization ? " Human mobility is about to create a generation of " Movers " - a new breed of mobility users with global transportation needs and a connection to multiple urban areas already from a young age. Expectations towards mobility go towards adaptable and personalized solutions and technological advancements should enable a strategy in which one vehicle could adapt to multiple qualities.

The final result is an adaptable urban mobility solution designed for global membership use in the year 2025. The intention of the project has been to holistically investigate how Virtual Reality can influence the design proces and result of interior and exterior. The goal has been to inspire and to show a believable way of how in the future adaptive personalization could excel hardware customization in order to suit the different and evolving needs of various mobility service users.

Inspiration and Method

In a scenario in which various users with various preferences start to share the same vehicle, personalization, related to hardware multiplication and personal taste, can not work the way it does today.

My approach aims to find the answer in adaptable solutions, which trigger the same emotional response. The main inspiration derived from the concept of home furnishing. The way we setup our homes after we move in and how we leave them empty for new people to come, inspired my approach to design a physically and digitally adaptable vehicle at the intersection of architecture and psychology. Working with a Virtual Reality Setup from the first concept stage, I switched between well known and pioneering working methods throughout this project. Conceptually the vehicle is inspired by the Ford Model T and the New Edge design language visualized on its modern successor, the Ford Ka.


The result is «Ford Evoke», an adaptable service mobility solution for the year 2025. Globally used, it is adaptive in its physical properties - extending or merging the wheelbase to offer different driving dynamics and space, related to dynamic needs.

The floating Interior architecture follows a theme of separated unity, centered with four seating islands around a battery pack on the floor. A diamond shaped seating layout allows for optimized legroom for all four passengers. The center front seat avoids challenges with left or right steering in the global context and the Interior pads are easily exchangeable for washing or promoting purposes.

On the digital side VR inside the vehicle overlays the pure shape of the interior with personalized preferences and offers an updatable HMI, which is free in space, highly adaptive and redefining the way we travel together, isolated or connected.
