Poängen med Pengen - A knowledge test in Financial Literacy

Abstract

In Sweden today we see changes in the management of money and the prediction is that by year 2030 Sweden will become a cashless society. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate what tools a child and parent may need in a cashless society.
During the research it became clear that the parents and children rarely talk about money and economics. The reason why they rarely talk about it is that the subject itself is heavy and contains several different areas to discuss such as savings, consumption, budget, value of money and money management.
The result of the thesis is a knowledge test for children in financial literacy. Questions regarding money and economics are presented to the child in a playful game. The knowledge test gives the parents and child a better understanding of the child’s level of knowledge within the area and what topics they could discuss further.
