City Vision 2020

Vehicle Design (in collaboration with Volvo Trucks)

Class: TD1
Duration: 10 weeks

The goal in this collaboration project was to investigate how Volvo could
communicate its core brand values in combination with a fresh new design identity for smaller city trucks, inspired by the supposed electrification of its powertrain.

The project had a strong focus on aspirational usage scenarios. This meant balancing rational and emotional values during the creation of the concepts. The human element was considered in the design process. Students exercised vehicle design methodology from research to 2D visualisation of their concepts. 3D digital tools were used for verification and testing during the process.

The expected outcome included proposals for conceptual electric city trucks and the visualisation of usage scenarios and envisioned surroundings (mood, people, buildings, etc). Main focus was on exterior design.
